Led Zeppelin "Led Zeppelin IV" (1971)
Following on from the 'half rocking / half acoustic' approach of LZIII, we see something of a continuation of that mix. Everything is a bit bigger though, with the rock riffs getting more epic, and a lot of the acoustic/folk tracks also becoming more grandiose. IV
was also believed to include an increasing number of references to the
occult.
The album features a couple of my favourite Zep tracks: 'Misty mountain hop' and 'When the
levee breaks'. I don't think I'd heard 'Going to California' before, but
it sounds familiar so who knows.
...and then of course there's that quite long song that everyone is quite well aware of.
