Deep Purple "In Rock" (1970)
A change of vocalist worked pretty well for these guys, with Ian Gillan
wailing and screaming his little heart out.
Recorded after two core
members had been replaced, and while the ambitious 'Concerto for Group
and Orchestra' was being planned and executed, it's a relatively short
and punchy collection of songs.
They're not my favourite band. I don't dislike
them or anything, they've just never ranked in my esteem alongside other bands of
their day such as Sabbath or Queen or whoever. Still a solid record
though
