Stan Getz & Joao Gilberto "Getz/Gilberto" (1963) - got it
This follows on from the success of 'Jazz Samba', which was apparently also
popular in Brazil and not seen as a watered down or inauthentic interpretation of the bossa sound.
For
this album Getz recruited actual Brazilian musicians to record with,
the resulting album is simultaneously ridiculously catchy, and laidback.
Apparently Astrud Gilberto only featured on the album because the
producer wanted a verse of "The Gir from Ipanema' in English and Joao
couldn't do it. Thus one of the more famous vocal performances of the
day happened.
